The Governing Body

Nestling at the foot of the beautiful Cotswold escarpment, Winchcombe School occupies a stunning 17 acre site in open countryside, between the Saxon town of Winchcombe and neighbouring hamlet of Greet.
To anyone arriving at the school it is obvious that the buildings and grounds are well cared for and provide a learning environment that few other secondary schools can match.
With some 485 pupils, Winchcombe School is smaller that most secondary schools in Gloucestershire, and as a result is able to ensure that each student has the opportunity to develop to the very best of their ability.
By whatever criteria it is judged, the results achieved at  Winchcombe School are outstanding. In Maths and Science the school is amongst the best in the UK, whilst in Modern Foreign languages it out-performs even specialist language colleges.
English, Music, Leisure and Tourism are amongst subjects at which the students particularly excel.
This success reflects the special partnership between truly dedicated and committed staff, motivated pupils, and parents alike, that only such a dynamic school can provide.
That a school of this size has been awarded specialist status in not one, but two disciplines, Science and Leadership Training, is testimony to its success and achievements.
A new £1.2 million development project is due to start in the first quarter of 2010 will ensure that Winchcombe School and the local community will have the very latest in floodlit all weather sports facilities, changing rooms, additional classrooms and dance studio.
I am proud and most privileged to be associated with Winchcombe School, and my fellow governors and I are determined to see that it continues to provide an all encompassing education to the highest standards for all its pupils.
As a parent with three grown children who were educated in the independent sector, I would suggest to any parent who might be considering private education for their children, that this school offers a very real and accessible alternative.
