Welcome to Winchcombe School.
People suggest that all schools are the same but I believe that Winchcombe School is truly unique with fewer than 500 students set in an area of outstanding beauty.
The conversion to academy status has enabled us to develop greater flexibility within our curriculum which already delivers a broad and balanced education with 33% of our pupils achieving the English Baccalaureate (passes at A*-C level in English, Maths, Science, Languages and a Humanities subject) and has provided extra funds to improve our excellent resources.
We are very proud of our reputation for academic excellence with 2009 seeing our best ever results at GCSE, 2010 the highest ever points score and 2011 a continuing upward trend.
However, we know that a good education is about so much more that examination results. It is about creating a climate in which each individual is valued and our most recent Ofsted visit recognises this too – ‘outstanding care, guidance and support ensure that students feel safe and secure and enjoy their education’.
We are also very proud of our status as a Lead Behaviour school, one of only 20 in the country. As a result of this award we are asked to share our good practice with other schools at both primary and secondary level.
We have recently unveiled a £1.2 million performing arts block and full sized floodlit all weather pitch and have further plans to develop our facilities even further in the near future.
Hopefully this web-site will give you a flavour of what we have to offer at Winchcombe School but I would strongly advise you to contact us and make an appointment to visit so that you can witness first-hand the unique atmosphere that we are so proud of at Winchcombe School.
